New Year’s Eve In Dogsville
A departure from the majority of Coolidge’s dogs paintings, it does not contain any poker and has a large cast of characters in a giant ball room. The pooches are celebrating the ushering in of a new year. Most of the couples in the foreground seem to be passionately enjoying each other’s embrace, but a bull dog in the background has a look of utter horror while dancing with his partner. All the tables are well stocked with champagne and wine, while a band on the right side offers entertainment for the night.
